Uniform. Video. Duration 4:11

Marx viewed clothing, including work uniforms, as social class and economic signifiers, reflecting the underlying power structures of capitalism. He thought that clothing could both conceal and reveal social differences, and how the fashion industry, driven by profit, manipulates desires for individuality while reinforcing class divisions. The uniforms I wear in this video are all uniforms I wore as a wage worker at different times in my life. The uniforms take on new meaning as I reimagine the way they are worn.
